ROAD: Roadway Online Application for Design
ROAD is the public ROAD package built from road-2-js, with horizontal design, vertical profile, contours, quantities, and cost outputs.
Quick Start
- Open an RDW or LandXML file, load a demo, or draw new geometry.
- Use Map Setup and Draw Contours when you need ground contours.
- Draw or edit line and curve segments in the design canvas.
- Add landmarks at segment endpoints and enter road and ground elevations.
- Use Results to compute length, slope, cut, fill, and construction cost.
- Export the project and classroom output files when finished.
Example Uses
- Demo design: load trial3.rdw from the app demos or the samples zip, then inspect results.
- Contour workflow: import contours.json from the samples zip, align it to the design, and add elevations.
- Cost sensitivity: change road width or unit cut/fill costs and compare total cost.
Things To Notice
- ROAD here means the road-2-js classroom package, even if an older page label says ROAD-2.
- Use gps-to-contours.html to convert tabular GPS tracks into contour JSON for import.
